The very first step in activating a sub domain or a domain on your server is adding the sub/domain to the list in "Domain Management" >> "Your Domains". The format is very simple: one domain or sub domain per line. For example:
A domain is considered any name that has to be registered with a registrar. Most of the time, this means the domain contains only one dot; domain.toplevel. However, there are may domestic and international top level domains that contain two parts. For example canada.bc.ca. A sub domain is anything added before the domain name like mysub.domain.com or mysub.domain.com.au. The Appies system recognizes the difference between domains and subdomains and categorizes them appropriately.

Adding domains to this list immediately adds the domain to the systems /var/mail/relay-domains file which tells the system that it can accept mail for this domain. This is only the first step in making use of this domain on the system.
Once a user on the server adds their domain to this list, no other user can add that same domain or add any sub domains using that domain. This prevents users on the same server from disrupting other users mail or Web access.
