Using FTP

Using FTP

FTP or File Transfer Protocol is one of the easiest and fastest way to upload multiple files to your site. There are two parts to FTP, the client and the server. Each Appies server has an FTP server running in daemon mode, this means it is always awaiting connections.  An FTP client is software that can be downloaded from the Internet and installed on your local machine.

 Helpful Hint...

Try searching download.com for "FTP".  You will see a number of clients available.  Choose the one that best fits your needs and budget.  CuteFTP is a favorite of ours.

One you have an FTP client installed, you are ready to connect to your server.  You were sent your FTP settings in your configuration e-mail when your account was activated.  They are

hostname: [yourdomainname] or [yourserverIP]
username: [your user]
password: [your password]

 Helpful Hint...

If you forgot your password, simply use your Appies "Password Administrator" under "Security" to reset your password.
