Appieshop Merchant Integration

The real power of a shopping cart is shown by how it interacts with credit card processors to make your customer's shopping experience easy and pleasurable.  Appieshop is integrated with several merchant account providers and even has the option of collection credit card data and storing it on your secure server for off-line processing.

When choosing a Merchant Account Provider consider the pros and cons of the following:

Must go through bank or AuthNet reseller.  Although this option is most costly, it is the most professional and cheapest in the long run.
This is for those who have an off-line processor already and just want to collect CC info.

Appieshop and PayPal (http://www.paypal.com)

PayPal is a online banking service that allows merchants to accept credit card payments (and direct PayPal payments) almost instantly with paying a large setup change, waiting a long period of time, or going though an exhausting approval process.  In fact, if you have a credit card and a bank account, your PayPal merchant account can be setup in just minutes for FREE.

Preparing Your PayPal Account. If you don't already have a PayPal account, visit http://www.paypal.com and click "Sign up for your FREE PayPal Account!".  You do need a business account, not a personal account to accept credit card payments through PayPal so be sure to click the link for business accounts. Follow the instructions on the PayPal site and complete your application.

Once in your PayPal account, click the "profile" tab under the "My Account" tab. Then click "Instant Payment Notification Preferences".  Select this feature as "on" and enter your Appieshop SECURE url (default https://farley.hostingfreaks1.com/appieshop/index.cgi). You are now ready to accept payments via PayPal.

Preparing Your Appieshop.  In your Appieshop Administration Menu, click "Payment/Tax Configurations". For "Payment option" you should enter something like "Credit Card".  In the description list what credit cards you accept (if using Paypal Visa, MC, Discover, AMEX) and perhaps a turn around time or other information. In the On-line payment processor pull down menu, select "PayPal IPN" and then enter your PayPal e-mail for the "receiver e-mail".

 Helpful Hint...

It is recommended that you repeat the above process and create another payment option called "PayPal" for those who want to transfer funds directly from their PayPal account and not use a credit card.

 Technical Note...

The Appieshop credit card form will not be used when using PayPal.  The customer will be taken to the PayPal site, to their generic looking credit card form where they will be asked for their credit card information.  Their billing address will already be filled in for them.  Once the charge is processed, they will be returned to your "Thank You" page in Appieshop where Appieshop will then complete the order process.

Retrieving Your PayPal Payment. Just like any order, your order will be listed in the "Pending/Processed Orders" section.  However when you click the order number to retrieve the details of the order, you will notice no credit card information is stored on your server.  This is because PayPal does not share that information for security reasons.  Click the PayPal logo instead to get more details on that payment.

Appieshop and AuthorizeNet (http://www.authorizenet.com)

AuthorizeNet is one of the leading on-line payment gateways available for merchants. With their payment gateway and Appieshop, your customers will never leave your site through the order process.  This provides the user with a secure shopping experience and provides you, the merchant with a professional appearance.

 Remember...

Authorizenet is a payment gateway, not a merchant account provider.  You need to first go through a merchant account provider who will set you up with Authorizenet.  Ask you Webhost provider if they provider this server or can recommend someone who can.

Preparing Your AuthorizeNet Account. Visit the AuthNet logon page at https://secure.authorize.net/.  After logging in, click "Settings" in the main menu the "Response/Receipt URLs" in the sub menu. Now click "Add URL" on the right side of the screen and enter the SECURE URL of your Appieshop (default https://farley.hostingfreaks1.com/appieshop/index.cgi).  Your AuthorizeNet account is now ready.

In the On-line payment processor pull down menu, select "AuthorizeNet 3.0" and then enter your AuthNet username for the payment processor merchant ID.

Retrieving Your AuthNet Payment. Just like any order, your order will be listed in the "Pending/Processed Orders" section.  Appieshop is configured to collect credit card information and complete credit card information will be available to your and stored on your secure server within Appies.
